The honest answer to "how much is a light tower" is that nobody can quote it from the question alone. The same 8 m mast can cost very different amounts over a month depending on how long you keep it, how hard you run it, and how far it has to travel. This is what actually moves the number, so you can ask for a rate with the right details attached and get something firm back instead of a range.
The one rate we can publish
Our 8 m diesel unit starts at RM3,500 a month. That is a complete unit — mast, four 500 W LED heads, and the silent diesel generator that runs them — not a base rate that grows once you add the parts that make it work.
We publish that one because it is confirmed. Daily and weekly rates, and rates for the solar and LED units, move with availability and the job, so quoting them here as if they were fixed would be inventing a number. Send the dates and you get the real one.
What actually moves tower light price
Four things do most of the work, and three of them are decided by your site rather than by us.
- Unit type. A diesel generator light tower, a solar unit and a battery LED unit have different capital costs behind them, so they price differently even at the same mast height.
- Run hours. A mast that runs four hours an evening and one that runs from dusk to dawn wear the engine and the lamps at very different rates. Tell us which you are doing.
- Hire length. A month-long hire spreads the delivery, setup and collection across more days than a three-day hire does, which is why the monthly figure looks cheaper per day.
- Distance. A unit going to a site an hour away and one crossing into another state carry different transport costs. This is the part people forget to mention and the part that most often changes a quote.
Why the daily rate is not the monthly rate divided by 30
Every hire carries fixed costs that do not care how long you keep the unit: loading it, towing it out, positioning it, and coming back for it at the end. On a month those costs disappear into the total. On a three-day hire they are most of it.
That is why short hires look expensive per day and long ones look cheap. If your works are stop-start over several weeks, it is usually worth asking about keeping the unit across the gaps rather than paying to move it twice.
What to send so the quote comes back firm
You do not need a specification. Four lines is enough for us to price it properly:
- Where the site is — town and state is fine.
- Start date and rough end date.
- Roughly how many hours a night the lights need to be on.
- What you are lighting — a pour, a road closure, a yard, an event ground.
Fuel is yours, maintenance is ours
The unit turns up fuelled. After that, diesel is a running cost on your side, and how fast it goes depends on how hard you push the lamps.
Servicing, wear parts and breakdown callouts stay with us. If a unit dies mid-hire that is our problem to fix, not a delay you absorb — which is a real part of the value that does not show up in the headline rate.
A note on comparing quotes
If you are pricing the same job with several suppliers, make sure you are comparing the same thing. Ask each one whether the figure includes the generator, whether transport is in or extra, who fuels it, and what happens on a breakdown. A rate that looks cheaper because it is a mast without the power behind it is not cheaper.
The other one worth asking is what the unit actually is. An 8 m mast with four 500 W LED heads and a 6 m mast with two smaller lamps are both "a light tower", and they will not do the same job on your site.

Send the site, the dates and roughly how many hours a night you need the lights on. You get a rate back.
Ask on WhatsAppLight tower questions people ask
Is the RM3,500 a complete unit or a base rate?
Complete. Mast, four 500 W LED heads and the silent diesel generator, for one month. There is no separate charge to make the unit function.
Do you charge for delivery and collection?
Transport depends on distance, so it is priced into the quote rather than hidden. Tell us the town and we will fold it into the number you get back.
Can I get a rate without committing?
Yes. Send the site, the dates and the run hours on WhatsApp. A quote is not a booking — plenty of people price a job before they win it.
What if the job runs longer than I booked?
Message us before the end date. If the unit is not committed elsewhere we extend it, and you are not paying twice for transport.
